Casey Shea : Pics From The Road…

One week ago today I left for the tour with the gentlemen from Tally Hall. It’s been an incredible ride so far! Their fans are awesome and have been very supportive, so that’s made it all the more enjoyable.
I’ve tried my best to capture some moments from the road….here’s a bit of the tour from my eyes…
.
Zubin and Ross clean out the Skill Crane while waiting for dinner!
.

The view from the back of the van.
.

Some fans gathered during the radio interview in Ithaca…autograph and picture time!
.

Jukebox The Ghost fighting through the sickness and dominating at Toqeut Hall in Westport, Connecticut.
.
Somewhere in the middle of nowhere….this is a big part of touring.
.
Skybox from the balcony at the great Mr. Smalls just outside of Pittsburgh. Been really great guys to hang with so far and have put on great shows every night!
.
Amazing crowd at Mr. Smalls. I took this one while setting up my guitar just a few minutes before destruction!
.
Zubin finally breaks out the Playstation 3 to play Pacman! I could be wrong, but I don’t think he ever got past the blue boards.
.
The boys return to their home town Ann Arbor, Michigan. We started the day off with a radio interview with the people’s DJ, Martin Bandyke, on 107.1 that included the world premiere of their song “You & Me!”
.
After an incredible lunch at Zingerman’s, Andrew and I went shopping for vinyl. We each left with 11 new records. I got an amazing deal….11 albums for 11 dollars….Andrew was not as fortunate.
.
Andrew and I found a great alley, had to take pictures…
.
And it looks like I’ve found my next album cover!
.
Probably the biggest snowman I’ve ever seen outside of the law library at University of Michigan.
.
Wonderful picture during the acoustic set taken by our Tour Manager, Mike. I’ve got the electric out, so this must be during “Who You Are.”

Casey Shea : Welcome To Tally Hall

Last night I made my triumphant return to The Bowery Ballroom. It had been about a year and a half since THIS happened!
This time around I had the pleasure of playing with the band Tally Hall. A group I met way back in 2006 when I opened for them at a show in New Jersey after digitally meeting them on myspace.
That was back when they were still unsigned and still lived in Michigan. Fast forward four years, and things have changed….they live in Brooklyn, they’re signed to Atlantic Records, and they have knocked out a 10 episode season of quite possibly the best Internet show EVER!
Due to some unforseen circumstances, one of their members (Joe Hawley – red tie) is unable to go on their March tour, so here I am filling in!
It’s been a bit crazy learning a whole set of pretty complicated material in a very short time….my brain feels like their album cover. I’ve survived so far….I’m filling some pretty big shoes, but their fans have been very supportive, so I’m quite thankful for that!
Last night was awesome….packed show and an amazing audience! The other two bands on the tour, Skybox and Jukebox The Ghost, destroyed! Then we took the stage and kept the complete and total domination going, starting with an electric set and then moving off the stage and down onto the floor for the acoustic set where all 550 people in attendance sat while we played unplugged.
Today we begin three weeks of madness! Looking forward to it, though it’s quite sad to leave Langhorne on the day of our 5 year anniversary!!!???!! (Yes, I agree she’s awesome, and no, I don’t know how she puts up with me either.)
I’m currently in the back of the van…we just had Wendy’s…those junior bacon cheeseburgers may be the end of me.
PS – Do yourself a favor and check out their Internet show!

I woke up this morning not feeling too great about the fact that my car was buried in 3 feet of snow…it wouldn’t be so bad, but I had places to go. Luckily I had a good conversation with my breakfast….she told me I should not worry about such things, and then I ate her. MmMMMmmm!
I wasted about 15 minutes trying to dig my car out using an old Florida license plate as my shovel until finally a kind man with a real shovel helped dig me out. 20 minutes later, I was on my way!
I’m gonna spare you the details of the other two times my car got stuck in the snow today, but I’ve learned that a shovel is a good thing to have. Of course something other than a Honda Civic would probably be good too.
IN OTHER NEWS: Tomorrow night I’m playing a show with the band at The Living Room….this will be my last show in New York until April. It’s a benefit for AIDS, and lots of great people are on the bill…please do the smart thing, and come out.

Needless to say, from watching legend after legend perform to eating Yoko’s birthday cake, Tuesday night was pretty surreal and amazing! She turned 77 yesterday….SEVENTY SEVEN!!!!?? She rocks. It’s obvious why Ann Magnuson once said, “there’s a reason the coolest guy in the world fell in love with her.”
Here are a few highlights of the night…

Well the streak had to end somewhere, and this is it! We will be playing for the 7th straight week at Rockwood Music Hall tomorrow night (Friday) at 11PM….and gasp…there will not be a show next week.
For the second straight week, the fantastic TBA is on the bill. Though this time the Rockwood site actually links TBA to someone who has a lot more fans than me. Hmmm, maybe that will convince you to come out a bit early! If that’s not enough, he wonderful Jamie Leonhart plays before him at 8.

Casey Shea : AVATAR!

Tonight you can be just like one of those blue people in the James Cameron movie I still haven’t seen.
Now before I begin, I’m gonna chalk this one up to things I probably wouldn’t do if I were you (kind of like going to see that movie in the first place) but I’m not you….and maybe you can’t make it out tonight to Spike Hill at 11PM, because you’ve been planning to watch “The Real Housewives Of Orange County” marathon that’s on all day….or maybe you have an important meeting early tomorrow morning, or maybe you’re a Manhattanite and would never dare cross the East River, or maybe you don’t even live in New York!!?
No matter which of these groups you might fit into, I think we can all agree that you love my music more than life itself and feel that my live shows are only slightly less enjoyable than your average orgasm…
Back to the point of all of this…..blue people……James Cameron……avatars. Tonight you can log into STREAMJAM, create a digital representation of yourself (an avatar if you will) and watch us play – just like you’re there in person…but not really at all. Just think, you can say you were there the night when Casey gave out $100 bills to everyone who came out to the show!!
Still not convinced??? Well how about THIS – you can even chat with other avatars about who the thinnest member of the band is…..or whether Paul is really dead…..or maybe whether you like Matt Basile’s cleanly shaven face or Casey’s MONSTER STACHE that seems to only appear when Langhorne is out of town. Or maybe you can tune in for Lowry and log off before we start….this might be the best option…
Casey Shea : Ad Clicking With Matt Basile

Since I know you’re bored as hell and have nothing to do until LOST begins taking over my life again, I suggest you go over to Matt Basile’s blog and help him pay his rent….apparently he’s not making big enough bucks “playing” bass with me or MOTHERFEATHER, so he’s taken matters into his own hands and somehow convinced Google that his 3 readers a day matter to someone.
Do the kid a favor and go click on an ad….it could mean the difference in him continuing to ruin my shows or us getting signed to that big major label deal with Dreamworks.
In World Tour News: We’ll be playing 3 shows this week. First we help Lowry kick off his 2 month residency at Spike Hill on Thursday. THEN we take Manhattan by storm Friday night…..bringing Rockwood Music Hall to it’s knees one last time before we play again there next week. Finally, we make the trek to Tommy Doyle’s in Cambridge….yes Cambridge. We’ve realized only smart people like my music, so we’re only playing in towns with Ivy League schools from now on.

Friday, February 5th – 11PM

We will finish out our 1AM Residency this Saturday night at Rockwood and bid adieu.
Yes, as Boys II Men once said so eloquently, “it’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.” But the time has come for us to forget all the little people who made this possible and move on….move on and move up. Yes, for the next two weeks, we’ll be playing Fridays at 11PM – AT ROCKWOOD! BIG TIME! Wow, is there any stopping this train!!??? I don’t think so!

In Other News: Family Records has joined the masses and started a “fan page” on Facebook. Yawn. – http://www.facebook.com/FamilyRecords
In Other Other News: Matt Basile’s 23rd failed band wasn’t all a waste – American Pickers on The History Channel (Monday Nights at 9/8c) has licensed the Rich Girls classic “Latchkey Kids” as part of the opening montage for the show.
In Other Other Other News: Wakey!Wakey! has hit the big time…no, I’m not talking about his character that’s developing on One Tree Hill, and no I’m not even talking about his iPad commercial placement, I’m talking about his new website designed by the master – Jeff Schram.
