We here at Casey Shea are still on the search for the world’s best drummer, but thanks to Mr. Paul Carter, I think I’ve finally found him!
Of course there’s always this guy….

I just got some good news, and I’m quite excited to share it with you. I was just asked to play on June 5th at Mercury Lounge as part of The Dig’s Album Release show!
They’ve been touring the nation recently with the likes of The Walkmen, The Joy Formidable, and Portugal The Man to name a few. They are, as they say in the business, on the rise.
You may know them as the band who stole my drummer away from me last year or as the backing band for the farewell show of this horrendous band…but don’t let any of that fool you – I am quite excited about this.
I suggest getting your tickets in advance!

Casey Shea : Covers: Yellow Bird By Bess Rogers

I’ve never been too big on covers…it’s hard enough to remember my own songs let alone learn someone else’s…but it seems the times are changing.
It all started a while back when Mr. Martin Rivas had me on the infamous Back Scratch Sessions. Luckily for me, I drew the name of the lovely Bess Rogers. I got the chance to completely rework and ruin a perfectly good song, and I must say, it was pretty enjoyable.
So in an effort to stay creative and keep my sanity, I’m gonna continue making home recordings of (my take on) some songs of people I think you should know about….let’s see where this takes us…
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, my first in a series of covers – Yellow Bird by Bess Rogers.

In Other News: I will be playing the new stage at Rockwood Music Hall one week from today! I’m opening for my good friend and great songwriter Paul Brill, so it will be an early show!

Get a head start on Cinco De Mayo, and come enjoy a tasty margarita or 5…..you can thank me later.

Lately I’ve been obsessed with destroying people at Scrabble. I’m not saying I’m invincible (it’s actually looking like one Mr. Adam Christgau is about to interrupt my 10 game winning streak, but my letters have been pretty horrendous in that game, so I think it’s fair to say this one doesn’t really count)….what I AM saying is that if you think you have what it takes (an iPhone, Words With Friends app, time, and a desire to have your dreams crushed) caseyshea27 is me….bring it on.
…….
This Saturday night we’ll be partying on Stage 1 at Rockwood Music Hall for 2 hours from 11-1. That’s right, THE Stage 1….now I know you might be thinking, why is the loudest band to EVER play Rockwood not playing the bigger room?? Sure it might be more enjoyable for you, but let me just tell you a little thing you might not know about me….I like to KEEP IT REAL. It’s the same reason I still use my AOL email account, it’s the same reason I’m gonna beat your ass at Words With Friends, and it’s the same reason I’m playing STAGE 1. You can have your big stage with your mic-ed drum set and flying piano and state of the art sound system….I want THE REAL ROCKWOOD. And listen, I’m not the only one….you may notice all the cool people are still playing Stage 1….like Misty Boyce did last night and Dave Doobinin is tonight!
So yeah, bring your earplugs and drink up, cause this train ain’t gonna let up for 2 hours….good luck Robbie Gil hearing yourself when the explosions start going off next door! BOOOOOOOOOOOM!!
Casey Shea : Full Band Show Tonight At Webster Hall – 9PM!

Well this week turned out to be a big one….
It started innocently enough with a sinus infection that produced enough green phlegm to fill the East River, next the band headed into the studio for two and a half days of madness, recording 16 basic tracks of what is sure to be the greatest or worst album of the millennium….in the midst of that, I found myself playing “Chelsea” for the very girl who inspired the song at a benefit for Lung Cancer, I followed that up by giving myself, what one woman who lives in my apartment calls, “the most God awful haircut of all time,” which brings us to now….right now I’m watching Mark Christensen master my new album “Love Is Here To Stay,” and finally tonight we are set to destroy The Studio at Webster Hall at 9PM.
Wow….now that’s a productive week!
If you’re still looking for something to do tonight, please come out to Webster Hall. I promise to rock, or fire everyone trying….

Ahhh, doesn’t it feel good to be popular?? That beautiful, oh so pleasant warm feeling rose up in me when I visited my inbox this morning. The numbers were in, and it was official, I’ve got a NEW MESSAGE!
I guess I shouldn’t have let my hopes get the best of me. There have been so many times before when I thought somebody out there actually cared about me, only to open up the message and find the latest and greatest new deals on Cialis and Viagra….or about how somebody from the NIGERIAN NATIONAL PETROLEUM CORPORATION wants to transfer the sum of $47,500,000.00 (FORTY SEVEN MILLION, FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND UNITED STATES DOLLARS) – all they need is my bank account info, and I get to keep 25%!!
But sometimes it’s even worse, sometimes we get the double whammy….not only is it spam, but it’s written in CHINESE!!?? Well, I’m assuming it’s Chinese….It could be German….or even French….but if I were a betting man, I’d be leaning towards the more Asian countries on this one…
Of course, what if I’m wrong…what if this isn’t spam at all? What if it’s really just the head of SONY in China offering me the biggest record contract EVER?? What a bummer….I’m totally screwed here. This could be (and probably is) my big break, and I’m gonna miss it, cause this bigwig record exec doesn’t have the brains to realize I can’t read Chinese! Woe is me….I guess I’ll just have to sit here and ponder what could have been……
Casey Shea : Back Home!

Well that was quite an adventure….three and a half weeks of fast food, Sleep Inns, gas station restrooms, loading in, playing shows, loading out, skill cranes, a lost peacoat, a broken guitar, a broken PA, a lost ukelele, a frisbee on a roof somewhere in Nashville, a couple of 3AM Waffle House visits, a lot of world domination, and much much more….and just like that, I’m back home in Brooklyn.
I must say, Tally Hall has some incredible fans. The kind most bands (myself included) dream of….loyal and hardcore….posting tons of pictures, videos, blogs, spreading the word all cause they love the band and the music they make. Of course the fact that they are great guys helps, but it starts with great music and great songs. Hopefully their new album will be released soon, cause there’s plenty of that on there!
Speaking of albums, I just finished the 110th version of mine….and no, I’m not joking. I really think I’m closing in on this track listing thing though! Sadly (and probably fortunately) it looks like the album release along with the new website and Elephants video will be pushed back to May…..it shall be an exciting day when this is finished. ALMOST as exciting as the return of The Margarita Club next Saturday at Pianos! It’s time to celebrate a successful tour!
Happy Passover, Easter, or whatever else you may be celebrating this week!
