Lists, lists, lists, I love ‘em and I hate ‘em. I was asked to make a critics type list of my top 10 albums and singles of the year and this is what I came up with. I certainly forgot some songs or records that I loved, and of course I didn’t include any Family Records or Engine Room Recordings artists as that wouldn’t be fair (even though they genuinely would make my list).
Favorite Albums of 2008
1. Frightened Rabbit - The Midnight Organ Fight
2. Sigur Rós - Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust
3. Francis and the Lights - A Modern Promise
4. Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
5. Cut Copy - In Ghost Colours
6. Nas - Untitled
7. Q-Tip - The Renaissance
8. Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
9. Ryan Adams and the Cardinals - Cardinology
10. Panic At The Disco - Pretty. Odd. (yup, I said it)
Favorite Songs of 2008
1. MGMT - Electric Feel
2. Paramore - That’s What You Get*
3. Bon Iver - Skinny Love
4. Young Jeezy - Black President
5. Francis & The Lights - Night Watchman
6. Frightened Rabbit - Poke
7. Frightened Rabbit - Modern Leper
8. The Magnetic Fields - California Girls
9. Julia Nunes - The Underdog (Spoon cover, youtube it.)
10. Lykke Li - Little Bit
* Originally I left out this Paramore song because the album was released in 2007, but Tris McCall informed me that the single was released in 2008 so I can still put it in there. Number 1 and 2 are incredibly close.
