We’re excited to share this with the world finally! Prefix Magazine just debuted Wakey!Wakey!‘s new video collaboration with the GD Cobras! As part of their “Cobra Den Invitationals” the band covered one of their and our favorite songs. Let us know what you think in the comments!
In their words: “Yeasayer‘s “Ambling Alp” was stuck in our heads all winter and we got to wondering how violins could replace synths. Enter Brooklyn’s beautiful Wakey!Wakey! and the beginning of a series. Next up, Dirty Projectors on a Solange track, and then cast Lawrence Lessig in an Aldous Huxley short.”

Last night’s Spirit Independent Film Awards featured Wakey!Wakey!’s “Square Peg Round Hole” during their broadcast alongside songs by Phoenix and our friends Princeton. It’s a wonderful festival that celebrates the independent film makers out there in a way no one else really does and we’re proud to be involved! Also Eddie Izzard was hosting, and who’s really cooler than Eddie Izzard? We also made it onto Emile Hersh‘s Spirit playlist! For a full playlist of the songs played on air during the Spirits, check out the player below.
Our dear friends at VsTheBrain have just wrapped up production for the first music video in a series of three that we are working on with them for the Wakey!Wakey! album. Some amazing shots from the set below, and more can be found here. Can’t wait to share the video March 8th!

Well here is something we never thought we’d see happen! Our good friend Paul Cantor, a writer and producer who has worked with Freeway, Wu-Tang Clan, Mya, and Kool G Rap, was so into Wakey!Wakey!‘s current single “Twenty-Two” that he created a special Hip Hop remix. It features up-and-coming rapper Theo Martins who adds two verses of his own, speaking on the topic and cleverly adding to the song’s underlying storyline. Download it for free over at NahRight.com, the #1 Hip Hop blog in the world.
Note that the title of this post includes the words “part 1″, implying there is another remix coming. It might come from a totally different direction altogether, so keep your eyes peeled!

This morning Wakey!Wakey! appeared on the CW11 Pix Morning Show. They performed two songs and Mike was interviews. Check it out HERE
